Is the audition process like American Idol?
​
No, not at all. The worship ministry at The Mount is passionate about helping everyone grow in their skills and develop talents. Yes, there is an evaluation assessment process, but this is to gauge your current skill level and create a path for growth. Part of your process includes coaching appointments where we take time to assess what volunteer challenge you can take on at the moment, and also make your first recommendations for skill growth. We are committed to growth in each volunteer, whether they're brand new to the game, or you're ready for the front line challenge. In this process you are also assigned a mentor who will help guide you along the process to preparation, as well as provide a personal connection to the community of volunteers.

How often do I serve?
​
Serving will always depend on how many people are in your current position, and what their skill levels are. Most team members serve 1-3 times a month, and at the moment we ask all members to share time between Stafford, Fredericksburg, Bealeton and El Monte campuses.

Is there a place for me? It seems like you have everyone you need.
​
This is a very common misconception. Our team members are scheduled as needed, but we are ALWAYS recruiting to include new people. The area we serve unfortunately has a very high turnover rate. Military and government assignments are always taking members in and out on a very rapid basis. Often we only have a band member for a few months at a time, meaning, we need to prepare for their departure. We also may only have one member for certain positions, which means they often are needed every week. We take commitment time very seriously, so the goal is never to burn anyone out. In short, we always welcome new auditions, whether we have you for 6 months or 16 years.

Absolutely! We are always available to chat about the ministry itself, or give you some additional evaluation time if you feel you need that.
